FINISHED WEDDING CAKE

A lot of work!  I star-tipped the whole thing. That is a lot of stars.
I have decided after making 2-3tier wedding cakes that I will stick to birthday cakes, they are a lot smaller.

MAKING A WEDDING CAKE

A co-worker of my oldest DD is getting married tomorrow and I am making her cake. The cake will be 3 tier with Silk flowers.I have 4 layers baked and 1 in the oven,1 more layer after that. The tiers will be 6,10,12 - 2 layers each. The flavor is fudge marble with a white buttercream frosting.Frosting still has to be made. Assembly tomorrow and pick-up.

Photo Challenge

One of the blogs I follow Creations with Christina just issued a challenge, take a photo of your scrap desk(without cleaning it up).I took my photo of my almost clean surface. One project I am working on and the things at the front of the desk were just taken off a shelf unit so I could paint it.Paint has been applied and is drying.

Scraproom in Progress

I am still working on my scraproom. I can see more of the floor and I have another surface cleaned off. This will be my main work area so maybe I can KEEP it cleaned off except for the current projects I will work on. This will mean putting away everything I have used on that project. Hopefully I can make this a good habit! I started putting hanging files in the bottom drawer of the metal cabinet I purchased for my scraproom. I have only filled a third of it so I can file a lot of papers I have in other places. I might actually be able to find a specific paper in the future. Photos to come soon.

A Test of my DH's Love-The Rest of the Story

cabinet in my room, and back of hall cabinet
cabinet at the end of my hall
To continue with the major endeavor story and the test of my DH's love. After buying the cabinet we STILL had to get it in my craftroom. This is no easy feat for anything that is very large. My hallway is only 29 inches wide with 2 doors across from each other. The problem is making the turn into either the bedroom or my craftroom.SO...we KNEW that cabinet was NOT going to make that turn! After studying our options,we could only think of 2,one would require a door from the outside into my craftroom(maybe later on),or option 2,go through the cabinet at the end of the hall.(this is the option we chose).Since I was busy trying to help my DH as much as I could I forgot to take photos of our work in action.I do have a photo of the cabinet at the end of our hall and the cabinet after it is in my craftroom. This does not show that we had to completely dismantle the whole cabinet and the wiring to the lights in 3 different rooms. After the cabinet was removed the  metal cabinet could be slid straight into the room,a neighbor did help with that.It took 2 days to accomplish but my DH and I succeeded.

Trip to Orlando Today

I made a trip to Orlando today with my 2 DD's to see my youngest DS.(he is doing good, hoping to find a job)Two hours there, two hour visit and two hour trip back.Tiring and hot.I am thankful for traveling mercies as we had a safe trip and no car troubles, thank you,Lord.

The beginning of a major endeavor

Last Friday I had an appointment with an Ophthalmlogist,I did not think about needing my eyes dilated so I drove myself.Big mistake!I decided I could make it for short distances.First stop was to see a daughter. From there I went to the Habitat for Humanity store. This is where I saw a large metal cabinet that I REALLY wanted for my craftroom,it would hold a ton of stuff.I did not purchase it at that time so I took photos of it to show my DH.I showed him my photos after he got off work and told him I REALLY wanted it!We picked it up that afternoon. It took him and 2 other men to load it.
